Avoid chafing and blisters when you use your Urban Shepherds Boots for the first time

Brand new shoes can be very uncomfortable if they appear chafing. We want you to enjoy your Urban Shepherds Boots to the fullest, for that reason, we are going to tell you some tricks so that you prepare your feet and your boots before putting them on, and thus avoid chafing or blistering.

8 TIPS TO AVOID DISCOMFORT ON YOUR FEET WHEN YOU USE FOR THE FIRST TIME LEATHER SHOES

Most of the time, blisters appear when we use shoes that are too big or too tight. In the first case the boot causes friction, in the second we subject the foot to excessive pressure.

Leather footwear yields with use. You just have to have a little patience, and follow these simple tips that we propose to you so that your boots fit quickly to your feet.

8 tips to avoid discomfort on your feet when you use for the first time leather shoes

1. Choose the right size for your foot.

It is essential that you measure your foot before buying your Urban Shepherds Boots. In this way we will make sure that you choose the perfect size for you. Think that what yields with the use is the width of the boot, not its length, so we should always avoid toes touching the front edge of the boot.

2. Wear socks that do not form wrinkles

Also make sure that the socks you use with your boots are your size and are well placed. The seams and wrinkles in the socks are guilty of many of the chafing that appear on the feet.

3. Put on your boots to walk around the house

Before going outside with your boots, put them on to be at home. For the leather to yield as soon as possible, you can apply some Nivea cream inside the boot and wear them with a sock.

4. Put a band-aid on the chafing to avoid blisters

As soon as you notice the discomfort of a chafing, protect the area with a special band-aid from those sold in pharmacies, and you will avoid the appearance of a blister, which leads to a slower recovery of the skin lesion.

5. Take your boots to the stretcher last

Your shoemaker can help you soften the leather of your boots before you wear it. Leaving them one night in the stretcher last can make a big difference.

6. Hydrate your foot with Vaseline

When you put your boots to be at home you will quickly notice if any area of the foot begins to resent a little. Those are the most sensitive areas where you can suffer chafing. Before putting on your boots apply some layers of Vaseline in that area.

7. The secret of the experts

There is an infallible trick in which both, the highest level cobblers and my grandfather agree (they say that the devil knows more for old than for devil), is to apply a bit of glycerin soap and water on your fingers, and then carefully pat the area where the boot produces chafing on your foot.

8. Have a little patience

Your Urban Shepherds are hard boots. They need to be to accompany you in all your adventures. But for that very reason, you should have a little patience. The first week, use your boots only for short periods. This will help both, your foot and the leather, getting used to each other.

This is a great article. I got blisters when I wore the boots for the first time, but now they are fitting perfectly. I used coconut oil to make the leather softer, I wore ticker socks and made a round trip around the neighbourhood before adventuring my boots to a longer journey.
